PDF Sales Drawings for Board Level Shielding
Tech-Etch offers configurable PDF sales drawings for both single-piece and two-piece board level shields for download from their web site. The user first chooses through hole mounting with pins or standard surface mounting. Seam options and required dimensions are then filled in. Next, the metal material and finish are chosen. If desired, vent or access holes or slots are described, as well as depth- etched part numbers or logos.
Tech-Etch manufactures standard and custom board- level shielding using photo chemical etching which provides unparalleled design flexibility while reducing cost. The process supports very intricate geometries without expensive tooling. Economical one-piece designs use depth etch bend lines to allow easy hand forming. For easy rework and component access, the two-piece designs with removable covers are produced using standard form tools, so the tooling cost is not passed on to the customer.

Motor Line Feed-Through Filters

Spectrum Control, Inc.'s line of motor line feed-through filters (MLFT), a flexible low-cost solution to EMI (RF) noise issues, now feature standard part numbers and are in stock for sampling. These filters provide EMI protection for DC motor and other low voltage applications and offer significant insertion loss to pass global conductive and radiated EMC tests, such as CISPR 25.
Spectrum's MLFT filters are designed as a one-component solution to eliminate the need for multiple capacitors, inductive coils, leads and PCB assemblies requiring numerous electrical connections and large amounts of space. These filters can be engineered into existing mechanical packages, allowing for an easy retro fit to current designs or as a custom one-piece assembly to simplify production/installation at a reduced overall cost.
Standard MLFT part numbers include filters with single and dual lines, stamped and threaded housings, Faston and round-lead terminals, with capacitance values to .18”F and up to 100V.

Miniature Ferrite Beads
Murata Electronics North America now offers the world's smallest ferrite beads, measuring only 0.4mm x 0.2mm x 0.2mm. The 01005-sized BLM02 series is ideal for noise suppression use in EMI filter applications and DC power lines, which are found in numerous electronics including RF modules, laptops, portable music devices and car navigation systems.
In addition to the benefit of their small size, which conserves valuable board space, the new ferrite beads do not compromise performance. As part of Murata's EMI FIL family of chip ferrite beads, the BLM02 provides a wide attenuation frequency range, approximately 30MHz to several hundred MHZ, and an impedance range of 10Ohms to 120Ohms with rated currents between 200mA and 500mA. The 01005-sized beads also offer DC resistance below 0.8Ohms and operate between 55AC to 125.

Low-Resistance Anisotropic Connector
As consumer and commercial electronics manufacturers focus on engineering smaller products with increased power and performance, the need for highly reliable board-level interconnect devices becomes a critical design consideration. To satisfy this growing demand, Fujipoly offers its low resistance, high current- carrying capacity Zebraź FG-S silicone connector.
This Zebraź connector is manufactured with a silicone rubber core that is embedded with a single row of thin, gold-plated phosphor bronze wires. The wires are spaced on .10mm centers and offer anisotropic conduction in the vertical orientation. The conductive core is sandwiched between two parallel insulator rows of silicon sponge for easy installation.
The FG-S connector provides a current carrying capacity of 30mA per wire and exhibits an average contact resistance of only .35ohms at 15% compression.

ECOsine Power Quality Filters
Schaffner ECOsine™ filters offer superior filter topology and advanced temperature management, resulting in high performance filters in a surprisingly compact, lightweight and contemporary package.
As a result of the significant reduction in total harmonic current distortion (THID) to <5%, ECOsine filters can uniquely guarantee compliance with the toughest requirements of IEEE 519 and other stringent international power quality standards. Rectifier peak and RMS input current are reduced and a pure sine wave is drawn from the grid. The reduction in current consumption for the same power level saves precious energy and helps to make better use of existing electric system capacity. For new installations, the use of ECOsine filters even allows electric conductors, fuses, and breakers to be downsized, or enables a greater number of drives to be powered by a given size of distribution transformer.
ECOsine harmonic filters are available in two ranges: one for 50Hz grids (FN 3410 series) and the other for 60Hz systems (FN 3412 series).

RF Conducted Immunity System
AR RF Microwave Instrumentation is offering the model CI00401 RF conducted immunity system (100W nominal/10kHz‚400MHz), a complete, self-contained system for automotive testing.
The system contains a signal generator, 3-channel power meter, 100W nominal AR amplifier (10kHz‚400MHz), directional coupler, and control software. Everything is contained in a single housing, eliminating setup issues. The CI00401 has the versatility required for every test laboratory and equipment manufacturer.
The system's RF amplifier and signal generator can be used independently. If special needs arise or when standards change, a larger amplifier can be connected to the system. Spectrum analyzers and monitoring equipment can also be controlled by the system software.

Economic EMI Test Receiver
The new R&S ESL EMI test receiver from Rohde & Schwarz is designed to meet the needs of cost-conscious users who want to perform precise pre-compliance and diagnostic measurements up to 3GHz or 6GHz. This compact instrument is the only one in its price range to offer fully automated test sequences using the latest weighting detectors that conform to CISPR 16-1-1 specifications. Like all EMI test receivers from Rohde & Schwarz, the R&S ESL can also be used as a full-featured spectrum analyzer.
The R&S ESL measures a DUT's electromagnetic disturbance in accordance with currently applicable commercial standards such as CISPR, EN or FCC. It stores the measurement settings and results on its hard disk. Users can generate comprehensive reports by means of the R&S ES SCAN EMI precompliance.
