Quick-Mount, Low Force Metal Gasket

Omega Shielding Products’ high-endurance 99-940-WT gasket is engineered for heavy-use EMI shielding and grounding applications. The symmetrical design of the gasket offers low compression resistance and reliable electrical contact between mating surfaces with gaps ranging from 0.1 inch (2.5mm) to .06 inch (1.5mm).

Installation is fast and easy by way of a peel-and-stick instant tac adhesive strip on the underside of the gasket. Additionally, the free end of each gasket finger features a fold-under lip that greatly reduces surface friction as the gasket is compressed. Schaffner Power Entry Modules

Schaffner EMC’s new family of power entry modules enhances its existing IEC inlet filter ranges and provides more electrical and mechanical options.

The new FN 9263 series combines an IEC inlet module and an EMC filter with a single pole rocker switch. The filters’ small housings, designed to fit a 1U rack, make them ideal for devices with limited space such as portable electrical equipment, small- to medium-sized machines and household equipment and single-phase power supplies that require low-cost solutions.

Specifications for the RoHS-compliant FN 9263 filter series include a maximum continuous operating voltage of 250VAC, a rated current of 1A to 10A at a maximum of 40C (104F) and an operating frequency of dc to 400Hz. The filters are available in a variety of mechanical mounting versions including screw mount and snap-in versions for horizontal and vertical mounting. They are UL, CSA and EN rated and meet all other necessary safety requisites.

Tektronix, Inc. has released the RSA6100A series of real-time spectrum analyzers that provides a combination of real-time performance, capture bandwidth, and dynamic range to meet the needs of a broad range of cutting-edge digital RF applications.

DPX waveform image processor technology transforms volumes of real-time data to produce a live RF spectrum presentation that reveals previously unseen RF signals and signal anomalies. Beryllium-Free EMI Shielding Material

Laird Technology’s Recyclable Clean Copper™ products meld strong stability and tensile strength with high levels of thermal and electrical conductivity, making it suitable for utilization in both grounding and shielding applications at a cost that is comparable with traditional metal EMI shields.

Tiny AC/DC Eliminates EMI

Bias Power’s BPS-2 series of universal single- and dual-output 2W AC/DC supplies features a patented circuit design that effectively eliminates line EMI without need for an input filter, all in a package measuring under 1 cubic inch.

Suited for a variety of low-power consumer and standby mode “drop-in” applications requiring no additional external components, the supply, which is available in 8Vdc or 14Vdc single-output versions, and a 5 and 8 dual-output version, has a line/load regulation of ±1 percent, ripple of 250mV at 100Hz and nominal efficiency of 73%. Input-to-output isolation is 3kVac. MTBF is greater than 200,000 hours at ±25C. No-load power consumption is less than 30mW. The module is protected against short circuits.

The BPS-2 series meets EN55022, FCC Part 15, and UL/CSA specifications. The BPS-2, measuring 1.09-by-1.35-by-0.57 inches and rated for operation over 0 to 70C, is priced under $6 in small OEM quantities.

Multichannel EMI Filters

Vishay Intertechnology Inc. has three-, four-, six- and eight-channel EMI filters in the ultra-compact LLP leadless packages.

With a low profile of 0.6mm and a pitch between pins of 0.4mm, the new VEMI filter arrays are designed to save board space and provide ESD protection in portable electronics for mobile computing, mobile communication, consumer, industrial, automotive and medical applications.

The arrays include the four-channel VEMI45AA-HNH, the six-channel VEMI65AA-HCI and the eight-channel VEMI85AA-HGK. Delivering high-quality filtering, the devices are capable of attenuating unwanted signals by more than 30dB over the 900MHz up to 2.3GHz frequency range, with a resistance of 100 ohms and an input capacitance of 60pF. Low leakage current helps to prolong battery life.

All three devices provide transient protection for data lines as per IEC 6100042 (ESD) at 30kV (air and contact discharge) and IEC 6100045 (lightning) from 4A (tp = 8/20µs). They also are compliant with RoHS 2002/95/EC and WEEE 2002/96/EC.

EMI Gasket Material

Chomerics, a division of Parker Hannifin Corp. is offering CHOFORM® 5550 corrosion-resistant form-in-place gasket material.

CHOFORM® 5550 is a one component, thermal cure, electrically conductive material containing nickel-plated graphite particles dispersed in a silicone elastomer. The material is designed for increased flow rates for robotically dispensing onto metal castings. CHOFORM 5550 gaskets provide excellent EMI shielding and demonstrate superior galvanic corrosion resistance when dispensed on bare metal electronics housings, such as base station PCB covers and other electronic equipment requiring long service life under harsh, high-demand conditions.

The gaskets provide shielding effectiveness above 80 dB from 1 to 10GHz, and are designed to meet UL 94V-0 flammability requirements. The high shielding effectiveness and electrical stability of CHOFORM 5550 material has been validated in severe environments such as urban gas, salt fog, and high temperatures, as well as in high temperature/high humidity cycling. Test data is available on request from Chomerics. CHOFORM 5550 gaskets are robotically dispensed onto customer enclosures or castings and heat-cured at 150C in just 30 minutes, allowing fast handling, quality inspection, and packaging of parts.
