Dual-Mount, Low-Force Gasket
Omega's 99-880-04-20 electrical contact and shielding gasket
offers very low compression force, excellent resiliency and
superior RF attenuation characteristics. Manufactured from
thin gage copper, the part has a low-profile shape that exhibits
minimal resistance force. The design of this gasket allows
it to be mounted in a clip-on or stick-on configuration offering
maximum versatility.
The gasket provides excellent EMI/RFI shielding performance
for small gap applications with a dynamic range as small as
.07" (1.8 mm). The design allows compression to 25%
of its original height, allowing complete electrical contact
within a short range of movement.
Omega's 99-880-04-20 beryllium copper shielding gaskets are
in stock with a bright surface finish.

Testing Equipment for Shielding Efficiency
Designed for use by EMC test houses and electronic product
manufacturers, the CGE03 comb generator emitter from York
EMC Services is placed either inside a housing to test its
shielding properties by providing a known signal, or used
to validate an entire EMC test system as required by ISO17025.
It also enables manufacturers to test shielding performance
before the electronics are ready so problems can be detected
early.
The CGE03 performs these functions with a much wider frequency
span -- 900MHz to 40GHz -- than any other similar product.
It generates a stable comb of harmonics, which are switchable
between 900MHz and 1GHz.
The unit is powered from a bespoke battery pack so that any
unwanted effects from inter- connecting cables are avoided.
Where size is restricted, the CGE can be powered from an external
power supply, reducing its height from 3.5" (90mm) to
1.6" (40mm).

Photo Etched Miniature Parts Manufacturing
Tech-Etch manufactures small, light-gauge metal parts through
photo chemical etching, a process that produces intricate
components with close tolerances.
Metals that can be etched include Nitinol, Titanium, Tungsten,
Molybdenum, Copper Alloys, Beryllium Copper, Stainless Steels,
Aluminum, Elgiloy, Niobium, Nickel Alloys, Silver, and Spring
Steels, in addition to Polyimide Film. Many of these materials
have characteristics that are attractive to the medical industry.
Parts range in thickness from .0005" and up. Formed parts
are manufactured by combining photo etching for blanking with
inexpensive or universal tooling for forming. While providing
quick turnaround and low tooling costs, this method produces
burr-free parts with intricate and complex shapes. Designs
can be proved in preproduction quantities without having to
commit to expensive tooling. Laminating, plating, heat treating,
and assembly are available in house.

Testing Solutions For RF Conducted Immunity
AR RF/Microwave Instrumentation is offering two complete testing
solutions for RF conducted immunity.
The CI00400 (100W, 10kHz - 400MHz) is designed to test to
MIL-STD-461D and E CS114, DO160D and E, EN/IEC 61000-4-6,
IEC 60601-1-2, EN 50130-4, EN 61000-6-1/2, and EN 55024 standards.
Model CI00250 (75W, 10kHz - 250MHz) provides complete testing
solutions to the following standards: EN/IEC 61000-4-6, IEC
60601-1-2, EN 50130-4, EN 61000-6-1/2, and EN 55024.
These systems are fully self-contained in a single rack and
include a signal generator, 2-channel power meter, 100 or
75W AR amplifier, directional coupler, and control software.
The AR RF amplifier, signal generator and power meter can
be used independently of the system; and a larger amplifier
can be connected to the system for special needs or if standards
change.
Pre-installed software is available as an option. The use
of spectrum analyzers and monitoring equipment may also be
controlled by the Lab-View-based software that controls the
system.
The built-in versatility of the CI00400 and CI00250 test systems
makes them a perfect fit for every test laboratory and equipment
manufacturer that needs to perform conducted immunity testing.
AR products are backed by the company's "Competitive Edge"
warranty.

World's Smallest DAB Radio Module
Frontier Silicon now offers the world's smallest and lowest-cost
digital audio broadcast (DAB) radio module (pictured on page
1). The new Capri FS3010, measuring only 27 x 16 x 2.6mm,
is a miniature SMT module, which enables it to be fixed directly
to the DAB radio system board and avoids the need for connectors.
Its small size and high level of integration makes Capri ideal
for low-power product applications such as tiny pocket DAB
players, MP3 handhelds, PDAs and other portable entertainment
devices.
The Capri module is based on Frontier Silicon's Apollo multi-band
RF tuner and Kino 2 multistandard DAB and T-DMB digital baseband
processor. Complete systems can be built using Capri as a
slave module controlled by a host
processor, with several host interfaces available for control
and data transport streams, including SPI, SCP, and I2S. The
module receives both L-Band and Band 3 broadcasts, enabling
worldwide DAB reception.
Apollo measures just 5 x 5 x 0.9mm, making it the world's
smallest RF tuner for DAB digital radio reception, and requires
very few external components. The Capri module is available
now.

USB Support Now Offered with Schaffner
Software
Schaffner Test Systems' Compliance 3 emission and immunity test software now supports instruments with a USB interface, allowing users to invest in new, lower-cost instruments that do not require a GPIB (general purpose interface bus) card in the controlling PC. The interface has several advantages. It uses smaller, more flexible cables, has fewer cable length restrictions and enables multiple instruments to be easily connected via hubs.
Compliance 3 is used in many labs in commercial, military, automotive and medical tests. Its open architecture and flexible design make it easy to customize, so that users can incorporate complex hardware configurations, define custom test sequences, write device drivers for virtually any instrument and create unique report formats.
Pricing for 3 version 3.90 with USB support starts at $10,900 and includes one day of on-site training and software integration. Delivery is 2-4 weeks ARO.

High Bandwidth USB EMI Chokes
Steward has released four new common-mode EMI chokes for applications
including USB. The small common-mode chokes provide electromagnetic
interference filtering capabilities for workload speeds of
25 to 480Mbit/s. These parts are packaged in the small EIA
size of 0805.
Steward's new Series 05 chokes handle bandwidth-hungry applications
for USB 2.0, such as video and mass storage devices used on
data lines. They will suppress common-mode noise without affecting
the integrity of the differential signal.

Low Profile Twist Copper RFI Shielding
Gaskets
Ferrishield's low-profile twist series of shielding gaskets
were designed for small dynamic range applications where the
shield, in its "compressed state," will not extend beyond
its uncompressed width dimension. They also can be compressed
to a near flat position and still return to their free height.
Mounting is simple with the standard Instant Tac adhesive.
