Spectrum Control to Offer Lead-free Products

Spectrum Control of Fairview, Pennsylvania, plans to have all commercial products available with RoHS/lead-free compliant material by June 2005. Spectrum has redesigned all of its components to meet the stricter requirements of the European Community Directive 2002/95/EC calling for a “restriction of the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment.” The six substances addressed are lead (Pb), mercury (Hg), cadmium (Cd), hexavalent chromium (CrVI), polybrominated biphenyls (PBB) and polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE). As of June 2005, customers will be able to order either standard or RoHS/lead-free products.

Spectrum’s line of RoHS/lead-free EMI components includes discrete filters, filter plates, filtered terminal blocks, filtered connectors, patch antennas, BPS microwave filters and capacitor arrays.
