Wall Receives NARTE Award
Art Wall of the Federal Communications Commission has received
the National Association of Radio & Telecommunications
Engineers (NARTEs) national service award for his contributions
to the telecommunications industry. As part of the award,
Wall chose the University of Maryland as the recipient of
a $1,000 scholarship.
During his career at the FCC, he helped to craft Mutual Recognition
Agreements with the European Union, APAC, and South America
to benefit U.S. testing laboratories and manufacturers. Wall
also was a primary developer of the Telecommunications Certified
Body program, which privatized telecommunication terminals
and some radio certification procedures. This program helped
to streamline the application process for industry.
NARTE is a worldwide non-profit professional telecommunications
association which certifies qualified engineers and technicians
in telecommunications, electromagnetic compatibility/interference
(EMC/EMI), electrostatic discharge control (ESD) and wireless
systems installation.
The award was presented by H. Stephen Berger, NARTE certified
engineer and president of NARTE, at a ceremony held at FCC
headquarters in Washington, DC.
