Wall Receives NARTE Award

Art Wall of the Federal Communications Commission has received the National Association of Radio & Telecommunications Engineers (NARTE’s) national service award for his contributions to the telecommunications industry. As part of the award, Wall chose the University of Maryland as the recipient of a $1,000 scholarship.

During his career at the FCC, he helped to craft Mutual Recognition Agreements with the European Union, APAC, and South America to benefit U.S. testing laboratories and manufacturers. Wall also was a primary developer of the Telecommunications Certified Body program, which privatized telecommunication terminals and some radio certification procedures. This program helped to streamline the application process for industry.

NARTE is a worldwide non-profit professional telecommunications association which certifies qualified engineers and technicians in telecommunications, electromagnetic compatibility/interference (EMC/EMI), electrostatic discharge control (ESD) and wireless systems installation.

The award was presented by H. Stephen Berger, NARTE certified engineer and president of NARTE, at a ceremony held at FCC headquarters in Washington, DC.
