Standard and custom board level shielding is now available from Tech-Etch.
Photo Etched EMI Shielding
Tech-Etch offers standard and custom board level shielding (pictured on page 1) using a photo-chemical etching process providing unparalleled design flexibility while reducing the cost. The process supports very intricate geometries without expensive tooling. Heat dissipating through holes, logos and nomenclature can be incorporated. The standard two-piece design incorporates a unique, spring-finger style attachment between fence and cover which can be customized to almost any possible configuration, including rectangular, ‘L’ shaped, ‘V’ shaped, or even irregular shapes. Standard board level shielding is typically etched from .007" - .020" brass, with tin plating.
Shields can also be supplied with an insulating layer of polyimide in the cavity. Multi-cavity designs are achieved by incorporating internal fences enabling multiple components to be shielded with the same part.
