Water-Cooled 20kW FCTS

Arbin Instrument's new water-cooled 20kW stack tester offers a more compact, cooling option versus traditional air-cooled e-loads. The new 20kW fuel cell testing system coupled with Arbin's patented dew point humidifier provides precise and accurate control of gas humidification. Specific customer requirements can easily be integrated with Arbin's flexible design and plug-and-play modules. Safety features include leakage interlocks, manual emergency stop, water level control, programmable sensors/alarms, and much more.

The system's powerful Mits Pro Control Software also offers flexibility with several built in control types, as well as other dynamic modes that can be set by the operator. Measurements, data logging and data conversion are all performed quickly by the software. The software is also capable of running simulation of current, voltage and power for applications with a non-formulated profile.

High Power Density Fixed Power Supply

AMREL/American Reliance's new Military Grade MFP1200 effectively powers DC devices in the harshest outdoor conditions. In an effort to deliver a versatile and reliable power source for military field applications, AMREL enclosed 1.2kW in a 16"X7.5"X3.5" package ‚ over a 30% power increase versus the leading competing product.

Without sacrificing performance, the conformal coated internal DC power engine is enclosed in a rain, dust, sleet and sand-resistant package, sealed watertight and then extensively tested under temperature cycles from -40°C ~ 65°C. Electrically speaking, the MFP-1200 uses an innovative PFC design that takes 95 ~ 250Vac/45~440Hz AC input and also can run off of 95 ~ 250Vdc, a unique feature specific to AMREL's MFP-1200.

Report Forecasts Rising U.S. Materials Demand

U.S. demand for materials used in the production of batteries and fuel cells will rise 4.4% per year to $3.8 billion in 2011, predicts Battery & Fuel Cells Materials. Gains will be driven by increasing production of high-performance battery products, especially lithium and nickel metal hydride types, due to the enormous popularity of high-drain portable electronic devices. Demand for fuel cell materials will also rise nearly fivefold, as fuel cell products begin to enjoy commercial success.

Secondary batteries accounted for nearly 70% of the U.S. battery and fuel cell material demand in 2006, due to the size of the lead-acid battery market. However, faster gains are forecast for materials in primary batteries, fueled by a robust increase in primarily lithium battery shipments and continued strength in the bedrock alkaline battery market. Stellar growth is expected for fuel cell materials, which will capture 7% of the market in 2011.

Battery & Fuel Cells Materials is priced at $4,400 and is available at www.freedoniagroup.com.
