EnerSys Acquires GAZ
EnerSys, Reading, Pennsylvania, has acquired
Gerate-und Akkumulatorwerk Zwickau GmbH (GAZ),
based in Zwickau, Germany. GAZ is a producer of
specialty nickel-based batteries used primarily
in the energy, rail, telecommunications and uninterruptible
power supply industries worldwide. The approximately
3 million euro transaction will be financed using
EnerSys credit facilities.
John D. Craig, chairman, president and CEO of
EnerSys, says, “The GAZ acquisition further
enhances our ability to serve both existing EnerSys
and GAZ customers with the most complete line
of battery offerings available.”
Ray Kubis, president, EnerSys Europe, says, “This
new business will complement EnerSys’s existing
production and sales of specialty nickel-based
batteries for high-in-egrity applications for
aerospace, UPS and rail markets.”
