Former Caterpillar CEO Joins Firefly Energy Board
Glen Barton, retired chairman and chief executive
officer of Caterpillar Inc. has joined the Firefly
Energy Inc. board of directors. Firefly was formed
to create the next generation of lead acid battery
technology based on a material sciences innovation
discovered by Caterpillar.
Firefly has grown from an innovation within
Caterpillar to a remarkable company bringing true
technology advancement to an industry with boundless
applications, said Barton.
He retired from the Peoria, Illinois-based Caterpillar
in 2004 after holding numerous marketing and general
management positions throughout his 43-year career
there. His responsibilities also included marketing
and sales operations in North America, South America,
Latin America and Japan. He was elected chairman
and chief executive officer in February 1999.
Barton graduated from the University of Missouri-Columbia
in 1961 with a bachelors degree in civil
engineering and currently serves on the Deans
Engineering Advisory Council. He completed the
Stanford University Executive Program in 1977.
