New Battery Company
Joe Barrella and John Kaufman are forming a new
company, International Battery LLC, to design,
develop and market high energy, high rate and
primary lithium-ion cells and batteries. Based
in Ridgewood, New Jersey, the company is headed
by Kaufman as chairman and CEO, and Barrella,
formerly with Ultralife, as president and COO.
Model IB-Li100A (pictured on page 13), a high
energy large prismatic rechargeable battery, is
used for electric vehicles, including buses, cars
and scooters; military applications; robots; communication
equipment and battery charging systems for their
rechargeable batteries. Model IB-5590, based on
Li/SO2 chemistry used by the U.S. military, could
provide 28 hours of operation at -20°F.
