Battery Maker Moves to New Smyrna Beach?
Aquacell Batteries Inc. of Las Vegas, Nevada,
may be moving into Floridas New Smyrna Beach
airport industrial park. The company is offering
$785,000 for a new 11,250-square-foot building,
recently constructed by the city at the corner
of Turnbull Bay Road and Industrial Park Avenue.
City commissioners have approved a six-month lease
with the company, which includes a $78,500 deposit
to close on the sale of the office building in
six months. The monthly rent is $4,500 for the
building, which the city paid $550,000 to construct.
The research and development company proposes
to initially create 20 to 30 jobs, adding five
to 10 positions later, said Shannon Lewis, city
economic development coordinator. Peak capacity
for the company would be 45 positions. Aquacell
makes batteries using nontoxic materials.
